Fuel capacitance systems are separated into two broad groupings, AC capacitance and DC capacitance. The source of these names derives from the type of signal processed by the fuel system amplifier. Barfield designs a universal tester for each type of system with the proper interface harnesses to access individual aircraft applications. Some of the various test and measurements include:
Fuel Quantity Testers
The DC400A is a compact and lightweight test set designed for aircraft with "DC" fuel quantity systems using diode rectification probes. It's portable, battery-powered, and can be used with Adapter Modules for testing and calibrating various Aircraft DC Fuel Quantity Systems.
The DFQ40K is compatible with all aircraft with AC capacitance-based Fuel Quantity Indicating Systems, including those with transient suppressors. It measures insulation breakdown, capacitance of tank units, and simulates capacitances for system testing and calibration.
